Let The Sunlight In

Hiding behind a cloak of superiority
She glides across the floor, flawlessly,
The admiration of all who lay eyes on her,
She smiles, a smile so genuine, and it is.

But as the lanterns are extinguished,
And the night's watch take their place at the gates,
She's sullen, her pity reveals its fury,
And she is propelled, down, deep into her despair
The tears falling as flowingly as the cloak which slides from her shoulders,
She crumbles, she implodes, and emotion is her dynamite,

But noone will ever see what she feels,
Because as the sun begins to rise, through the stained glass window,
So does she,
Up on trembling knees, with a wavering hand, with blurred vision,
The cloak is replaced.

And the gates are opened.
